Tammy Keller has been an artist for as long as she can remember.  Her Ohio roots and outdoor adventures have always stuck with her, but as an adult, the beach called her name.  She moved with her family to Florida and has called the west coast of Florida home for 20 years.  The ocean’s waters and outdoor temperatures made her internal senses come alive, and being near the water became a source of regeneration for her soul. 

In her 40’s, Tammy realized that she was wired differently than most people, and she learned that she had synesthesia.  For all those years, she had no idea that what her body experienced was different than others.  Synesthesia is not abnormal, but not common.  Synesthesia is when a person perceives a sensory input with two of their senses instead of the more common one.  The most common type of synesthesia is when someone sees color when listening to music, and therefore using their sight and hearing to perceive the same input.  When Tammy’s body sees a sensory input, she also feels a jolt of energy or “zing” as she calls it when a particular input is pleasing to her senses.  She also feels very depressed feelings when the sensory input is not pleasing, which she has learned to quell when taking her paintings through the dreaded “ugly phase”. 

Tammy creates from her spiritual connection to her creator and the way that she has been uniquely wired.  She uses this internal “superpower” as a guide to which she follows along the creative journey.   Through many layers of acrylic paint and other artistic mediums, Tammy creates interest and depth within each piece while discovering something new about her process and herself along the way. These intricate compositions bring the natural world into a room to create an interior vibe that makes the owner’s space unique and exciting.
